Soldiers of Oxfordshire Museum

Trips

On Tuesday, the Merlin's went on a trip to the Soldiers of Oxfordshire Museum for a WWI workshop. In English we are studying Private Peaceful, so we wanted to learn more about life in the trenches and the home front. On the trip we had the whole museum to ourselves, and we were able to explore all the different war exhibits.

The boys loved being able to dress up in genuine wartime clothes and immerse themselves in the trench experience. We were also shown genuine letters from the trenches that were sent to loved ones at home during the war, which we will use as a stimulus for our own letter writing in class. We also bought some postcards in the gift shop so look out for the postman! The boys were so engaged, and we had a brilliant time, so well done all!

From Miss Ward and Miss Munns.
