The Bruern team have enjoyed a superb few days on the slopes at the IAPS Ski Championships: the boys skied extremely well in the time trials earlier in the week, which seeded them for the Giant Slalom Championship race taking place on Thursday. Their instructors have been very complimentary about the boys’ ability and competence on the mountain, which has been particularly pleasing to see.
On Wednesday the team competed in the head-to-head relay parallel slalom, racing as a team of five in a knockout competition. The boys skied strongly and competed with great determination, but came up against a very strong side from Runnymede School which brought their run in the competition to an end. Despite this, they were very pleased with their efforts and showed excellent team spirit throughout.
Away from the slopes, the boys have made the most of the full ski-trip experience. An après-ski wander to the local shop was followed by a memorable supper out, where the boys tucked into a hearty alpine menu of trout, wild boar, venison and veal. They were great company, ate extremely well and behaved impeccably – a real credit to the school.
After three busy days on the mountain the boys are understandably tired, but in good spirits and looking forward to the final day of racing. All competitors will take part in the Giant Slalom, each completing two runs with the fastest time counting towards the final results.
We wish the team the very best of luck for their final races!
