For many years, Bruern Abbey has been supported by the charity Amici Bruerni (AB). They have provided, and will continue to provide, bursarial support for Bruern families, as well as financial support for projects which go beyond the School’s planned development to enhance Bruern boys’ experience during their time at the school. The School remains incredibly grateful to AB, their trustees and volunteers, and looks forward to continuing to work closely together going forwards.
We recognise, in the absence of any other organisation, AB has filled a void and has fulfilled a PTA-type role at times. We have been wonderfully supported by AB trustees and helpers; though this, at times, can be confusing, particularly in a parents’ first few terms at the school.
In light of this, the School is launching the Bruern Friends and Families (BFF). This will be separate from AB and, unlike AB, the BFF will be school-led. Whilst the BFF will be largely made up of parent volunteers, it will be directed by the School. We envisage that the BFF will help with the running of school-led events and activities. Examples of these may include, helping with a school drama production, decorating the School for Christmas, accompanying day-trips or providing support with a class project. We also envisage a class-representative system which will fall under the BFF.
The happiness and safety of Bruern boys are absolutely paramount. The School is entirely committed to safeguarding and children protection. As this organisation will be school-led, it allows us at Bruern to fulfil all the necessary and important health and safety and safeguarding requirements and leave parents to enjoy the role of volunteering and assisting the school.
