The Colts Red team this week consisted of 8 lower juniors. They travelled to Cothill to play contact rugby against the U10B team. Without any subs, all the Bruern boys were expected to play the full match – which they did very well. Both teams had a good warm up and were keen to get started. Although Bruern were a little slow to react to certain phases of the game, the Cothill boys did the same, so it balanced out. However, Bruern were technically slightly better and at times stronger. There were numerous solo runs, although the tackling could have been better. Bruern managed to control the game, resulting in a first half lead of 4-1. In the second half a few tired legs and a few knocks, weakened Cothill’s resistance. To regain the balance a few Bruern boys were rested on rotation. Well done to Barnaby C, Francis F, William G, Milo R, Mark R, Henry S, Bertie T and William W – they all played very well and deserved their victory.
Thanks to those parents that had the opportunity to be pitch side – the boys do appreciate it, although they don’t always show it!
