Rugby: Colts Green v Sibford (A)
On Wednesday, the juniors travelled to Sibford School and played their final round of rugby matches of the year. It was a dark and cloudy day, however, the team shone brightly and played some impressive rugby.
Bruern started on the front foot, and Hadrien S scored 2 tries in quick succession. The likes of Hugo T and Frank R, helped Bruern extend their lead with some great carries into the opposition's half. After scoring 4 more tries before the break and putting in some brave tackles. We found ourselves 6-1 up at half-time.
At half-time, the boys had an inspirational talk from Dante K, who was keen for the team to extend their lead in the second half. To Sibford's credit, they came out of the blocks quicker than we did and scored several tries just minutes into the second half. With just 2 tries separating the sides, Bruern needed to show character to hold onto the win. Up stepped Tom S, who put in some fearless tackles and seemed to score endless tries. Bruern started to take control of the game again and was no longer shying away from the tackles. As the full-time whistle was blown, Bruern were victorious and had won the game 11-9.
Well done boys on your rugby this term. For a lot of the team, that was their last ever game of rugby for the juniors as next year they will be going into the L6th. Special mention must also go to our captain Hugo T as this was his final rugby game for Bruern Abbey. Thank you to all the boys for your commitment and attitude in training with Mr Vadivale Mr Moore Snr and Mr Bryant Jr. I look forward to seeing you all play as seniors next year.
