The Dragon brought their U11C team to Bruern, for what turned out to be a physical and well contested match of contact rugby. With several taller boys and a few more subs than Bruern, the Dragon team did look a capable unit – which indeed they were. However, they weren’t expecting just how physical the Bruern team were going to be in reply.
Bruern started well and put the Dragon under pressure with strong runs and rucking. The Dragon replied, but a couple of missed tackles allowed Bruern to score twice before half time. The Dragon came back well in the second half and deserved their 2 tries. However, the Bruern boys continued with the strong tackling and rucking to create more opportunities, 3 of which resulted in further tries. Above all, it was a great game of rugby, enjoyed by all – the 5-2 victory was the icing on the cake. Well done to all the players – they definitely played a game to be proud of.
