On a chilly afternoon, Bruern colts took to the field for the last rugby fixture of the school year and the colts. The game was 7 a side tag rugby against Chesterton school. Over the week we had been working hard in practice on organising our defensive and attacking formations important in tag rugby. The rules are that each player has two tags around their waist and the opposition needs to grab the tags. After 5 successful tag captures the possession goes to the opposition.
Led very ably by Hector E, Bruern were organised and played with real intent. Josh O-H and James G were particularly impressive with the way they chased down the tags. Some excellent passing saw William W and Orlando H release their considerable pace to run through the Chesterton defence. Chesterton also played with a lot of skill and answered back with some exhilarating counter attacking rugby of their own. Bruern eventually ran out 8-5 winners and it was lovely to see the game played in excellent spirits by both teams.
Next week are house matches and then we return to football after half term. I've really enjoyed coaching these talented group of boys and look forward to seeing some of them transition to senior rugby in September.
