On Thursday we took 10 juniors to compete in the ISFA U11 Seven-a-side Regional Tournament at Elstree Prep School. It was the first time that we had entered any Bruern team into a regional football tournament and the boys were a real credit to themselves. Bruern were placed in a tough group, competing against the likes of Cheam and Papplewick. The boys knew that we were playing against tough opposition and gave their best in every game.
I love tournaments as it requires the boys to work even more as a team. The games were short 6-minute halves each way and every boy had the opportunity to play in every game. Bruern fought hard in all 4 matches. The highlight being our team goal which was finished off by Zac V against Cheam School (who would later go on to lose in the final to the hosts, Elstree.)
Only the top 2 sides from each group could qualify for The Quarter Finals and unfortunately, we went out in the group stages. Although the results didn’t quite go our way, the boys really did themselves and the school proud. This time 5 weeks ago, half of the boys in the team hadn’t even started Bruern. Therefore, the boys should be extremely pleased with themselves for not only their attitude but also for, as I mentioned earlier, being the first team to represent Bruern at a regional football tournament. I would therefore like to list each boy’s name below as each and every one of them played their part on Thursday.
Nico H, William W, Zac V, James B, Theo S, Felix P, Jack P, Blake J, Orlando H and Francis F.
Well done to you all! You have made us all proud, including myself, Mr. Bryant Jr., and the entire school.
