The Senior A's were blessed with having 2 fixtures this week. The first came in a home game against Sibford on Tuesday afternoon.
The boys were fired up and made a strong start to the match. The captains led from the front and Narayan B opened the scoring with a powerful header following a beautiful corner by Louis S. Bruern was in control of the game. Moments later, Alex DB bagged his second goal of the season from a wonder strike with his right foot into the roof of the net. However, things soon took a turn and a defensive error led to the opposition getting a goal back. Bruern started to panic a bit and we lost our shape and conceded another just before halftime with the scoreline now reading 2-2.
At half-time, we regrouped and went out again for the second half. Sibford scored another to give themselves a 3-2 lead. We needed to show a bit of character and that is what we did. Frank J stepped up yet again and scored his second goal of the season following a deflection. The sideline was filled with teachers, parents, and junior boys, all cheering the 1XI on.
Unfortunately, it was not meant to be, and we conceded another 2 goals before the full-time whistle. It was a great shame and both the boys, and I were disappointed after the game. Nevertheless, we showed real character and did our best, which is all we can do. I'm extremely proud of the fight I saw with the boys on Tuesday. The first 20 minutes of the match have been described as some of the best football some senior members of staff have ever seen from a Bruern side. For this, they should all be extremely proud of themselves. I know that I am.
I would also like to thank Mr Floyd for coming along to referee the game. On to Swanbourne next!!
