Football: Senior A/U6A v Abingdon Prep [A]

Due to the amount of rain that we have had this week, we were unable to play our home matches vs Abingdon Prep at Bruern or BSA. Nevertheless, Mr Moore Snr worked his magic and managed to rearrange the fixtures to be away at Abingdon as their pitches were in a better condition.

Abingdon is always a strong team to play against and we knew it was going to be a challenge. Maxim H pulled off some fine saves early on to prevent Abingdon from taking an early lead. Despite this, it was attacking vs defence and Abingdon scored 2 before half-time.

At half-time, we were still in the game and every boy gave it 100% in the second half. Abingdon was still all over us, but our defence was holding strong. Special mentions to Henry D and Freddie D who came up from The B's due to illness and more than held their own. However, the heavens opened again, and the wind became stronger, which made conditions hard for our defence and goalkeeper. We unfortunately, finished the game with the scoreline reading 5-0. The scoreline didn't reflect the effort and desire the boys showed in tricky conditions.

Abingdon were particularly good, and I don't expect to come across a stronger opposition for the remainder of the season. A tough game but proud of the fight the boys showed. Have a good weekend lads and we go again next week.
