Football: Lower Sixth A v Dragon School

The Dragon 2-0 Bruern Abbey

The boys were back in age groups this week and travelled into Oxford to face The Dragon. Bruern made a sluggish start to the game and allowed The Dragon to dominate possession, with Maxim H busy in the Bruern goal. The Dragon took the lead midway through the first half with a well taken goal. Bruern rallied after the goal and enjoyed a better spell of possession and came close to scoring when Narayan B broke through, but his shot was well saved by the Dragon goalkeeper. Bruern started the second half with more energy and were the better team for large parts of the half. The boys pressed the opposition with a high tempo and progressed the ball up the pitch well when in possession. Louis S was having lots of success down the right wing and it looked like if Bruern were going to score, it would come from that side. However, try as they might, they couldn’t find the back of the net. Against the run of play, The Dragon were able to grab a second goal not long before the end of the match to leave the scoreline 2-0. The boys were disappointed with the defeat, but I felt that we deserved something from the game, especially after that second half performance. A big thank you from me to those parents who braved the weather to come and show their support. Man of the March this week is awarded to Louis S.
