After a very wet week and with only one practice under their belts, the Reds braved the A34 traffic and travelled over to the lovely Abingdon Prep.
In quite open and blustery conditions, the boys took to the field and led by Blake J they set about taming the fierce opposition. The first 10 minutes were all Abingdon as they took a 3-goal lead. However, Bruern felt their way back into the game with Will W commanding operations from the back. Abingdon scored another goal, but Bruern countered from a lovely diagonal ball from Santy L through to Barnaby C who calmly slotted in at the bottom left corner. Barnaby C (Man of the match) then showed off his all-round skills by then going into goal and pulling off 3 fantastic saves. 4-1 at half time.
The second half started positively with Bruern scoring again from a well worked corner. At 4-2 we started to believe!! However Abingdon played the patient game and took advantage of Bruern's impatience. In the end they ran out 8-2 winners. However, it was a promising display from the boys and bodes well for the next few weeks. Weather permitting!!
