Cricket: Colts A XI v Abingdon Prep [H]

And so, the cricket season is finally upon us.... this week saw us start our season hosting the often-impressive Abingdon Prep, and this week was no exception.

After a brief coin toss it was decided that Abingdon would open the batting, giving us a solid 20 overs to show off our bowling and newly learnt knowledge of fielding positions.

The boys did very well in the field, most of them put their hand up to have a bowl and those who didn't performed admirably in the field as we restricted Abingdon to 132 in their 20 overs, a very good showing considering we have missed five sessions already this term due to the wet weather.
Match tea followed our time in the field and the boys did a wonderful job of consuming their body weight in chocolate cupcakes and finger sandwiches, (this might explain why the running between the wickets was rather non-existent!)

With bat in hand the boys displayed some good skills and put in some brave individual displays against some speedy bowling. Despite not troubling the Abingdon score, it was very pleasing to see the boys bat for 18 overs and has given a very good indication of what we need to focus on in the coming weeks. Overall, the boys should be proud of a very impressive opening performance, and I hope you all have a lovely weekend.

Best,
Mr E Bryant
