Bruern Old Boy makes a splash with charity work!

Charity

Former Bruern boy and current U6th Form pupil at King's Bruton, Harry L, works with the charity Ocean Youth Trust, and he is absolutely thrilled he continues to raise money for a charity that he was inspired by his time on the OYT sailing trip at Bruern.

Over the Christmas term, Harry was instrumental in raising £3,685.79 of the Ocean Youth Trust [OYT]. We are proud to have had you part of the Bruern family!

Harry says, 'I got involved with the Charity through my old school, Bruern Abbey, where I started sailing as a young crew member. I was then selected by the staff skipper, based on merit and experience, to return to train to become a Bosun when I turned 16. A Bosun is responsible for the maintenance of different systems on board and plays a role in emergency situations. I am now a qualified Bosun, and a trainee watch leader, meaning I teach a group of young people and oversee sailing related activities onboard.'
