We are delighted to welcome Mrs Slade to Bruern Abbey, bringing with her a wealth of experience in PE, school sport, coaching and pupil wellbeing.
Mrs Slade has taught PE for many years and joins Bruern at an exciting time in the School’s development, as we prepare to welcome girls to the Prep School from September 2026. Her experience is particularly valuable in this next chapter, having previously been Head of PE at a large girls’ school in south-west London, as well as Head of Netball at schools in both Bath and Oxford, where she helped guide pupils to county and regional competition.
Beyond the classroom, Mrs Slade is a highly experienced and enthusiastic sports coach. She is an England Netball Level 2 coach and has coached performance netball within the Team Bath pathway. She is also a Level 2 hockey coach and currently coaches her daughter’s team. In addition, she is a British Triathlon coach and works with both a local triathlon club and cycling club.
Mrs Slade is already part of the Bruern Abbey family, with her son currently at the School and her daughter set to join in September. She is proud to be joining Bruern professionally and is passionate about the role sport can play in the lives of neurodivergent pupils.
She believes that neurodivergent individuals often bring distinctive strengths to sport, from creativity and resilience to focus, energy and original thinking. Just as importantly, she recognises that participation in sport can provide routine, connection, confidence and purpose, all of which are central to pupils’ wellbeing.
Alongside her teaching and coaching experience, Mrs Slade is also a certified yoga teacher. She is keen to foster an inclusive and holistic approach to physical education, supporting pupils both mentally and physically.
We are very excited to welcome Mrs Slade to Bruern Abbey and look forward to the positive impact she will have on our pupils, our sports programme and the wider life of the School.
