Kate Walker joined Bruern Abbey Senior School in September 2024 from Repton School, where she had worked since 2015 as Head of English and, latterly, Housemistress. She has an MA in English and Philosophy from St Andrews University and completed the Graduate Teacher Programme in Suffolk whilst working in a range of maintained schools. Her independent sector career began at Oakham School, where she held various academic positions, as well as being a resident tutor, coaching riding, and leading trips to Kenya and Uganda.
