Bruern Abbey Prep School is a leading prep school in Oxfordshire and, well known for our specialist approach to education. Our preparatory school offers specialised educational support for students for pupils diagnosed with learning difficulties.

Transitioning to Co-Education
While we began as an all-boys school, as of September 2026, we will be welcoming both boys and girls. This marks the start of our move to a fully co-educational school, with our Senior School in Buckinghamshire set to welcome girls from September 2027. This important development allows us to extend the unique Bruern approach to even more families, while staying true to our founding mission of supporting neurodiverse learners in a nurturing and tailored setting.
A Historical Prep School in Oxfordshire
The prep school is housed in a late Victorian, Italianate house with an excess of 20 acres of grounds including mixed woodland and specimen trees. It is located a few miles from the A34 and the M40, it is just over an hour from London and 15 minutes from Oxford. The school is well-connected by train with two stations in the nearest town of Bicester. The prep school is a 20-minute drive from the Bruern Senior School site.
The school provides the perfect setting for children to thrive and engage in a plethora of opportunities.

Academics are of paramount importance at Bruern Prep. Due to pupils’ learning difficulties, they need to be taught in very specific ways to help them reach their full potential. However, we also carefully consider everything else that goes on outside of the classroom.
