Three years ago Bruern welcomed its first Senior School pupils to Chilton and today we’re celebrating our first set of GCSE results with those boys!
At Bruern, every boy has a special educational need and so the results achieved this year reflect not only their talent and determination, but also the transformative value of a supportive and specialist learning environment: small classes, dedicated teachers and a lot of hard work has certainly paid off. Results can never tell the whole story, but some highlights include:
– 83% of boys achieved five passes at GCSE
– 93% achieved a pass (or equivalent) in English Language — with similar success in Maths.
– In English Literature, 30% of grades were awarded at Grade 9, with half at 7+.
– In History, a third of grades reached the top mark of Grade 9.
– In 3D Design, half of grades were awarded at 7+.
Most strikingly, in value-added terms, our boys added nearly three grades to their baseline predictions across their GCSE subjects.
Today, we are proud not only of the grades themselves, but of the resilience, creativity, and growth our boys have shown.
This is just the beginning of the story for Bruern Abbey Senior and most importantly, for each boy who has earned these results, many of whom are now off to a range of exceptional 6th form destinations, including some prestigious HMC Schools – we’ll look forward to sharing their stories soon and of course we are eagerly anticipating the opportunities that girls’ admissions will bring us at Bruern from 2026!
Particular congratulations to Leo S, who scored four 9s and three 8s, to Ben W who scored seven grades at 7+, including two 9s, to Sean H who scored three 9s and Ben P who scored six grades at 7+ – just some among many fantastic individual achievements among so many great stories.
