Bruern Senior – New Boarding House

We are very excited to announce the opening of our new boarding house at Bruern Abbey Senior School. Renovation works are well underway to ensure the new building, previously the village social club, will be handed over to the school during the summer vacation and in use for the start of the new academic year (September 2025).

As well as providing further boarding accommodation on the first floor, on the ground floor, there will be a dedicated teaching kitchen (for use by our first cohort of Leith’s Level 2 Certificate in Culinary Skills candidates, as well as extra-curricular cooking and baking clubs); a boys’ common room; and two additional classrooms.

The new boarding house, whilst increasing capacity, will also enable us to build on the comfort and space available to boarders at Chilton House.

In the summer term 2025, we shall also be using our new sports ground in earnest, a two-minute walk from the school. This, alongside our new swimming pool which opened in September 2024, will give us more scope for onsite games sessions. We will continue to work with partners to offer padel, golf, climbing, clay pigeon shooting and polo to ensure our offering rivals that of a far larger school.

We’d be delighted to show you around. Please contact Rosie Hufton in the school office to book a tour, or visit our admissions pages.

Bruern's Move to Co-Education

Beginning in September 2026, Bruern Abbey will take an exciting step forward as we begin welcoming girls into our Prep School in Oxfordshire. This marks the start of our transition to a fully co-educational environment, with our Senior School in Buckinghamshire set to welcome girls from September 2027. Learn more here
