Hilary is the new Head of Bruern Abbey prep and the first female Head in its history. This coincides neatly with the introduction of girls! She is also a Deputy DSL. Hilary started her teaching career in Portugal after studying French and Education at Exeter University. On returning to the UK, she taught in single sex boys and girls day and boarding schools and took up her first Headship in the Haberdashers’ School in Monmouth. Subsequent roles have seen her teaching and/or leading in Sussex, in Kent at Benenden School, in Hanford Prep in Dorset and a stint at Marlborough College. She has a deep interest in how children learn, how to educate them to thrive in the future and how to foster a love of learning no matter what their abilities might be. In her spare time she can be found with her dogs, horse or chickens, on skis or a skateboard, testing the qualities of baguettes around France or growing things in her garden.
