The standard joining process for Bruern is somewhat lengthy – and rightly so, given the School's small size and specialist nature – and this is also the case for our virtual process during these unprecedented times. Each step is outlined below. For more information you can also read the full admissions policy.
Please get in touch with us in the usual manner, by either completing our short enquiry form or emailing Debbie Swift, Admissions Registrar, on firstname.lastname@example.org
In the next stage you will be asked to share some paperwork for the Headmaster and Registrar to consider, and agree a mutually-convenient time for a video call. The paperwork will include an up-to-date Educational Psychologist's report and any recent school reports.
At the agreed time, the Headmaster will video-call you for a virtual meeting in his office, to talk about Bruern Abbey and your son, as well as his Educational Psychologist's report. This will last around 30 minutes. Immediately following the meeting, the Headmaster will take you for a video-call tour to talk about and see various parts of the school in order to give you a better feel for the place.
Until your tour, you can view some of the different areas of our beautiful site, and some of the wide range of activities our boys can enjoy, in our virtual tour below. Please note that photos may take a moment to load, and further locations are still being added to this tour.
Following the tour and meeting, our Registrar will get back in touch with you to find out if you would like to go ahead with an application to join the school. This will include an online e-assessment for your son with one of our Special Needs Coordinators. To book this you will need to complete the registration form and return it to the Registrar at email@example.com
After registration, an offer may be made or the boy may be invited back for a further taster visit if it is felt necessary by Bruern, once the school site has re-opened. This final stage helps the School to confirm both that he would benefit from coming to Bruern, and that he would enjoy his time here.
If a place is offered, you will receive a formal offer letter together with our Terms and Conditions, which you will need to sign and agree to in order to accept a place.
