Lockdown Fundraising

Charity

Over the last few months Bruern boys have taken the opportunity to complete some serious fundraising during the lockdown, in all sorts of creative ways on their own and with others. Well done to everyone involved!

Rugby Ball Passing

Oli T took to Clapham Common with his brother, James, a Bruern alumnus, to pass a rugby ball over 2,000 times helping to raise money for the Friends of Charing Cross Hospital including doctors and nurses. This also included friends from Hammersmith and Fulham Rugby Club.

The ‘Murrayfield or Bust’ Challenge set about raising £10,000 for the charity by passing a rugby ball for the equivalent distance from Twickenham to Murrayfield Stadium. They received incredible support from the likes of Mo Farah and Danny Kerr amongst other sports celebrities on Instagram.

The boys managed Murrayfield and back twice in the amount of passes they all did, raising over £52,000 for the cause including Gift Aid! You can still donate on the Virgin Money Giving page.

Head Shaving

With barbers locked down, Freddie P took the initiative and shaved his hair off for NHS Charities Together on Saturday 18th April. He received a celebrity endorsement from cricketer David 'Bumble' Lloyd, and went on to raise an amazing £1,270, over five times his target, from 60 donations. You can still donate on the Justgiving page.

5K Running

Mr Floyd set down a challenge for the boys to complete 5K runs to stay active during the lockdown, and committed to donating to the NHS charity for each run. Exercise and fundraising was obviously a winning combination with 36 boys joining in.
